Futurism is an art movement and social movement that originated in Italy in the early 20th century. Filippo Marinetti published the manifesto of the Futurists, summing up the major principles. In it he announced love for speed, technology and violence of the new technological era portraying to the car, the place and industrial modern way of life. The Futurists practiced in every medium of art, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, graphic, industrial design, interior design, theatre, film, fashion, textiles, literature, music, and architecture. Filippo Marinetti, Giacomo Balla, Umberto Boccioni, Carlo Carra, and Gino Severini are famous artists from this period.
